Rhino Doctor Reserve
Our Hottest Sauce. Built on Flavor, Not Bravado.
Rhino Doctor Reserve is the sauce that started it all. Born from the original recipe of South African wildlife veterinarian Dr. Liam Smit, this flagship sauce delivers deep, layered heat with bright tropical character and a long, deliberate finish. With eight fermented chilies, it’s bold without being reckless. Complex without being confusing. This is heat for people who care about flavor.
Flavor Profile
At its core, Rhino Doctor Reserve is built on a fermented chili mash, a process that brings depth, balance, and nuance to the heat. A carefully selected blend of red habanero, Scotch bonnet, red jalapeño, red cayenne, Fresno, Piri Piri, Devil’s Breath, and ghost pepper creates a powerful but controlled foundation. Pineapple purée and fresh lime lift the heat with brightness and subtle sweetness, while garlic and onion ground the sauce with savory weight. The result is a sauce that hits in layers. First fruit. Then heat. Then a slow, lingering burn that stays with you.
The Heat This is our hottest sauce with eight fermented chilies. Expect a serious, slow-building heat that doesn’t overwhelm the flavor. The fermentation process smooths the edges, making the heat more rounded and more approachable than raw pepper fire.
Hot enough to command respect.
Balanced enough to keep you coming back.
How to Use It
Rhino Doctor Reserve shines anywhere bold flavor belongs:
· Grilled meats and steaks
· Tacos and roasted vegetables
· Eggs, breakfast bowls, and burritos
· Chili, stews, and slow-cooked dishes
· Anywhere you’d normally reach for heat and want more depth
A little goes a long way.
Why It Exists
This sauce exists because Dr. Liam Smit believes flavor, farming, and responsibility are connected. A portion of every bottle sold supports the Rockwood Conservation Fund, helping care for baby rhinos orphaned by poaching in South Africa. This is heat with purpose. And this is where Horn & Heat began.
